Clare Gaeng (Frederick, Md. Thomas Governor Johnso) and Lock Haven University lacrosse team’s defensive unit has been named the www.GoLHU.com Female Athlete of the Week.
The Lady Eagles were sensational this past week and picked up wins over No. 11 Gannon 12-8 and No. 9 Mercyhurst 17-1.
It was in the Mecyhurst game where the Lady Eagles defensive unit turned in a performance to remember.
Lock Haven's defense caused 10 MC turnovers and LHU outshot the Lakers 34-15.
Lock Haven went up 3-0 before Anna LeGrett scored the Lakers only goal at the 22:13 mark of the first half.
Gaeng had four ground balls and caused one turnover.
Katie Zichelli (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) was one of three Lady Eagles with two caused turnovers.
Leading the defensive unit for LHU was Katie Zichelli, Clare Gaeng, Katie McConnell, Heather Sacko, Nicole Necci along with Lock Haven’s sensational group of midfielders.

Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover) of the softball team led LHU to win over No. 7 Bloomsburg on Saturday in game one of the PSAC Central doubleheader.
She earned the win in the pitcher's circle. She went all eight innings and shutdown the Huskies in the bottom of the eighth when it counted the most.
Morse struck out three and allowed five walks. She allowed two runs on 11 hits.
