Alex Monroe (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) of the Lock Haven University men’s cross country team has been named the www.GoLHU.com Male Athlete of the Week.
 
Monroe led the No. 21 Bald Eagles to an eighth place showing at the highly competitive Penn State National.
 
Monroe made is long awaited season debut and didn't disappoint. He was 24th overall in the 189-runner field. He was the 22^nd collegiate finisher.
 
Monroe, who was an All-American and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Male Freshman of the Year, last year covered the 5.2 mile course in 27:11.
 
This was the first cross country race of the year for Monroe, who's track season was extended late into the summer after he wrapped up a tremendous rookie season by earning a spot on the U.S. National team that competed at the Junior Pan American Games.
