Kyle Shoop of the LHU Wrestling team has been named this week’s Susquehanna Trailways/GoLHU.com Men’s Athlete of the Week.

Shoop had a big week for LHU going a combined 6-0 for the Bald Eagles. The 149-poudner grabbed a pair of key wins in two different dual matches, both Lock Haven wins. He rounded out the undefeated week with a 4-0 run and title at the Mat-Town Open II Tournament Sunday.

In LHU’s 27-12 win over Clarion (Feb. 2), Shoop won by tech fall, 15-0 (6:40) over Jake Keller. After the dual started at 174 pounds, Shoop’s tech fall clinched The Haven’s team victory. The next day, Lock Haven rolled by Sacred Heart, 45-3, and again Shoop was a winner, thanks to a 6-1 decision over Alex Harnsberger. Shoop rounded out a busy week with a title at the Mat-Town Open II Tournament on Sunday. He went 4-0 with all four wins coming against NCAA Division I opponents.

Of the four wins, the first three came by way of tech fall and over the run of four straight wins to the title. Shoop outscored his opponents over the weekend by a combined score of 77-1.
