Amir Hinton of the LHU men’s basketball team has been named this week’s Susquehanna Trailways/GoLHU.com Men’s Athlete of the Week.
Hinton was outstanding for the Bald Eagles in their three games against PSAC powers this past week (California (Pa.), Shippensburg and #17 West Chester). Hinton averaged an astounding 32.7 points, 6.7 rebounds 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game including a career-high 47-point effort Wednesday in the 97-94 overtime loss to Cal. For the week, Hinton shot 60.8% from the field and 83% (30-36) from the free throw line.
In the Cal game, Hinton shot 15-20 from the floor and 16-20 from the free throw line to get his 47 points. He also ripped down 12 rebounds and had three steals in the game. At Shippensburg, Hinton scored 26 points to go along with three rebounds and a steal while going 9-15 from the floor and 7-8 at the free throw line.
In the home game against #17 West Chester, Hinton scored 25 points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out three assists and had two steals. With those 25 points, he has now scored 1,001 points for his career and is believed to be the fastest PSAC player to get to 1,000 career points, taking only 42 career games.
