Kyle Shoop of the LHU wrestling team has been named this week’s Susquehanna Trailways/GoLHU.com Men’s Athlete of the Week.

Shoop, a redshirt-sophomore went 3-0 and took home the 141-pound title at the Mat-Town Open II hosted by LHU on Saturday. Shoop recorded two tech falls on the way to the finals, and in the title-bout, he won by decision, 10-6.

Shoop opened the tournament with a tech fall over Collin Schuster (Kent State), before downing Mosha Schwartz (Wyoming Seminary Prep) 17-0 just 3:15 into their semifinal bout. In the finals, Shoop downed Buffalo’s Nick Casella, 10-6.
 
Shoop’s two tech falls ran his season total to 14, which marks the third-most ever by a LHU wrestler for a single-season. He also now has 11 vs. Division I opponents which is the most by any DI wrestler so far this season.
