Anthony Noto went 4-0 on the week, notching a pin and two major decisions. He elevated his positioning in the National Rankings up to No. 23 on the heels of his 18-match win streak. Noto was also named MAC Wrestler of the Week after his impressive weekend.
On Friday, LHU wrestled Oklahoma and Virginia. In a matchup with the No. 18 Oklahoma Sooners, then ranked No. 27 Notp (Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima (NC State)) got the Bald Eagles off to a strong start at 125 with an 8-3 decision over the Sooners 23rd-ranked Joey Prata. A decisive second period saw Noto take a 7-2 lead, which he would ride out in the third period for the impressive win.
Against Virginia, Noto got the Bald Eagles rolling again, this time with a dominating 18-5 major decision. Noto improved to 2-0 on the day and 19-1 on the year and gave the Bald Eagles the 4-0 lead.
On Saturday versus Cal Baptist Noto ran out to a 10-2 lead before a late-period tilt sealed the bout. Noto's turn in the waning seconds earned him the fall at the 2:55 mark of the bout to give Lock Haven a 6-0 match lead.
Later that day, Noto got things started off once again for the Bald Eagles, and secured a dual-meet opening victory at 125 pounds vs. Bloomsburg. The Lima, N.Y. native turned in a 20-7 major decision victory to pick up his team-leading 21st win of the year. Noto has now won 18 consecutive bouts.
