The sophomore Mastillo, opened the 2022 season on an offensive tear. Over a three-game span vs. nationally-ranked (No. 13) Mount Olive, he hit .357 with four home runs and eight RBIs. Over the three games that saw Lock Haven go 1-2, he was 5-for-14 with four of the five hits going for homers. He scored five runs, recorded a .400 on-base percentage and a 1.214 slugging percentage. The Bald Eagles closed the three-game weekend series with an 8-4 victory Sunday. In the win, Mastillo went 2-for-5 with two hits, two runs scored, two RBIs. One of those hits Sunday was his fourth home run on the young season.
Mastillo also earned National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Regional Athlete of the Week honors after his flying start to the season over the weekend.
