Junior Nikki Weaknecht of the LHU softball team has been named this week’s www.GoLHU.com Female Athlete of the Week.

Earlier in the week, she was named the PSAC Central Player of the Week.

Weaknecht, who's always been known for her sensational defensive play in the infield, had a breakout week at the plate. She hit .615 in four PSAC Central games last week. Weaknecht was 8-for-13 with two home runs, three doubles, six runs scored and a team-best seven RBIs. She only struck out once and had an on-base percentage of .615. Her slugging percentage was a monstrous 1.308.

She started all four games at second base and was sensational, recording seven put outs and 16 assists on the way to a .920 fielding percentage.

Her biggest outing came in the second game at Mansfield on Saturday, where she hit two home runs, including a grand slam, recording a total of six RBIs. In game one at Mansfield, she was a perfect 3-for-3.
