Alex Monroe (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) of the Lock Haven University men’s cross country team has been named the www.GoLHU.com Male Athlete of the Week.
This is Monroe’s fourth time winning the Male Athlete of the Week award.
Monroe defended his individual NCAA Atlantic Region title and the Lock Haven University men's cross country team tied for second, earning the Bald Eagles a return trip to the NCAA Division II Championships.
Monroe, who was among the race's top-three from the gun started to pull away at the five-mile mark and cruised to the win with a time of 30:41.1 (10K).
With the team taking second-place, the Bald Eagles have qualified for the 2012 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships. The NCAA meet is set for Saturday, November 17 and will be hosted by Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Mo.
