2017 Coaching Responsibilities:
On-Field: Defensive Assistant/Defensive Line
Longtime LHU assistant coach Terry Szucs returned to The Haven for the 2017 season. In all, it’s his 23rd season as an assistant coach for the Bald Eagles.
For Szucs, the 2017 season and his return to LHU mark his 41st season coaching collegiate football.
He returns after spending the 2015 and 2016 seasons at NCAA Division I Minnesota, where he served as the Defensive Quality Control coach. Szucs spent the 2014 season at Pittsburg State as the Defensive Line coach.
For 20 seasons however – from 1996 to 2013 – Szucs was on Lock Haven’s staff serving a variety of roles such as assistant head coach, defensive coordinator, secondary coach, linebacker coach, offensive coordinator, quarterback coach and offensive line coach.
Prior to the 1996 season, his first as a fulltime assistant at Lock Haven, Szucs spent 13 seasons at Dodge City Community College in Kansas. He also coached at Washburn, Wayne State, Westmar and South Dakota State.
A 1975 LHU graduate, Szucs was a four-year letterwinner for the Bald Eagles. He was a two-year team captain and he was selected to the All-PSAC First Team at guard after the 1975 season.
