ERIE, Pa. – The Lock Haven University football team (0-4, 0-1 PSAC West) dropped its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West opener 41-0 today on the road at Mercyhurst College (3-1, 1-0 PSAC West).
Neither team scored in the opening quarter and MC led 7-0 at halftime, but the Lakes scored 28 points in the third quarter to pull away.
With the win, Mercyhurst improves to 3-0 all-time vs. the Bald Eagles.
Lock Haven struggled on the offensive side of the ball today and was outgained by MC 397-120.
Jesse Hoover (Curwensville, Pa./Curwensville) led the way for LHU with five catches for 81 yards.
Defensively, Lock Haven got a tremendous individual effort from
Kenny Monroe (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport). He made a team nine tackles including six solo stops. He also forced and recovered a fumble.
Zachary Hay (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) made five tackles for LHU.
Lock Haven is back in action next week at No. 4 California (Pa.) University (Saturday, October 2 at 1 p.m.
