EDINBORO, Pa. – The Lock Haven University wrestling team (4-7, 0-2 EWL) fell to host Edinboro University (6-8-1, 1-1 EWL) 24-19 tonight on the road at McComb Fieldhouse in Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) action.

The Bald Eagles and host Edinboro split bouts, with each team winning five.

Nick Hyatt (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) put LHU up 6-0 after he pinned Bijan Banks just 2:28 in.

A major decision by Matt Bonson (Lewistown, Pa./Univ. of Virginia) at 141 made it 10-3 in favor of Lock Haven.

Lock Haven wasn't done because Owen Wilkinson (Hartland, Mich./Hartland) earned a huge win after upsetting No. 17 Torsten Gillespie 1-0. Wilkinson's win made it back-to-back wins for The Haven and put the Bald Eagles in command 13-3.

Wilkinson rode out Gillespie in the second period and that riding time proved to be the difference as there was no scoring in the third as the action remained neutral.

Edinboro wins at 157 and 165 would prove to be huge for the Fighting Scots.

Lock Haven also got wins from Mike Khoury (Edgewater, N.J./Saint Joseph Regional) and Harry Turner (Howell, N.J./Howell), but it was Edinboro's bonus points at 184 and 197 that helped them to the five-point win.

Lock Haven will be right back on the mats as the Bald Eagles travel to EWL foe Cleveland State tomorrow (Sunday, Jan. 23) at 1 p.m.
