CLEVELAND – The Lock Haven University wrestling team (5-7, 1-2 EWL) picked up its first Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) win of the season today as the Bald Eagles downed host Cleveland State (3-8, 0-1 EWL) 21-18 in a match that came down to the final bout.
Today's action started at 184 pounds and the Bald Eagles opened on a tear, winning the first six matches to jump out to a commanding 18-0 lead.
Cleveland State didn't go away without a fight and dominated the next three bouts, winning by way of fall at 149, 157 and 165 to tie things up at 18-18.
Freshman Mike Khoury (Edgewater, N.J./Saint Joseph Regional) came up huge for LHU and sealed the win with a 3-1 decision over CSU's Aric Thurn at 174.
In all, Lock Haven won 7-for-10 bouts.
Harry Turner (Howell, N.J./Howell) won his team-high 19th match of the year for The Haven.
