LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University wrestling team is set for a trip to the Great Lake State to take part in the Spartan Duals hosted by Michigan State.

On Saturday, Jan. 8, the Bald Eagles will take on Michigan State, Eastern Michigan and Olivet.

Action kicks off at 11 a.m. with The Haven facing host-MSU. Lock Haven will then face Eastern Michigan and Olivet at 1 and 3 p.m.

The Bald Eagles are coming off a 26th place showing at the Southern Scuffle.

Evan Kolb (Coopersburg, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic), Mike Khoury (Edgewater, N.J./Saint Joseph Regional) and Harry Turner (Howell, N.J./Howell) all advanced into the second day of competition at the Scuffle.

Lock Haven's last dual was on December 12 at No. 4 Penn State. The Bald Eagles were shutout 48-0.

LHU is 3-3 on the year in dual action.

Prior to the PSU match, LHU was 1-1 against Millersville and Ohio at Lewistown High School. LHU opened the night with a 37-3 win over Millersville before falling 33-6 to close out the night.

The Southern Scuffle marked the return of 141- pounder Matt Bonson (Lewistown, Pa./University of Virginia), who's been nationally ranked much of the year. Bonson went 2-1 at the Scuffle and improved to 13-1 on the year. His 13 wins are a team-high.

Scouting the opposition:

Michigan State:

The Spartans are 4-1 on the year and coming off a 23rd place finish at the Midlands Championship hosted by Northwestern University. Tyler Dickenson was MSU's top-finisher with an eighth-place showing at 197 pounds.

In their last dual, the Spartans fell to Iowa, ranked No. 6 at the time. The 29-10 loss is Michigan's State only loss of the year.

Eastern Michigan:

Eastern Michigan is 3-4 on the year and coming off a 25th place finish at the Midlands Championships. Aaron Sulzer was Eastern Michigan's only wrestler to advance to Day 2 competition at Midlands.

Eastern Michigan lost a pair of duals back on December 19 to Missouri and Indiana.

Olivet:

Division III Olivet is 7-3-1 on the year and is coming off a 34-10 win over Mt. St. Joseph (Ohio).

Back in action:

The Bald Eagles will return to action on Friday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. when they host Pitt in The Haven's first true-home dual of the year.
