LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (3-6-2, 2-5-2 PSAC) defeated Millersville University (5-6-1, 3-6-1 PSAC) today in a hard-fought PSAC matchup at Hubert Jack Stadium.
The Marauders scored the lone goal of the first half in the 15
th minute off of a penalty kick..
Trailing at halftime, the Lady Eagles came out aggressive in the second half.
The Lady Eagles were able to tie the game with a goal from freshman
Jamie Hunter (Mount Joy, Pa./Donegal) in the 56
th minute.
Sophomore
Madison Taylor (Monaca, Pa./Center) set up Hunter's goal on a great crossing pass that Hunter pounded into the net.
A few minutes later, The Haven took the lead as Hunter scored her second goal.
This time the goal was set up by
Bree Orth (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) who sent a perfect pass into the box where Hunter headed it home.
Orth went from passer to scorer in the 72
nd minute scoring the eventual game-winning goal that gave The Haven a 3-1 lead.
Senior
Amy Wittman (Delmont, Pa./Frankiln Regional) recorded the assist on the goal.
Millersville added a late goal but the Lady Eagles proved to be too much, holding on for the win.
Senior goal keeper
Hayley Zinn (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) got the start in net for the Lady Eagles and recorded six saves.
Lock Haven returns to action on Friday (October 14) at 5 p.m. when the Lady Eagles host Charleston.
