MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team split a pair of matches today at Millersville University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover action.
Lock Haven opened the day with a 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-16 & 25-21) win over Slippery Rock, but the Lady Eagles dropped their second match today to Clarion 3-0 (25-20, 25-23 & 25-22).
The 1-1 day moves LHU to 9-7 overall on the season and 6-3 in PSAC action.
Gao Xuan (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) was on fire in the win over SRU. She knocked down 26 kills and only committed two errors. She hit a sizzling .545.
Bailey Farthing (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) added 13 kills and hit .351.
Hayley Gribler (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy-Liberty) recorded 10 kills and added three aces.
As a team, the Lady Eagles had 64 kills in the win over The Rock and hit a sensational .355.
Alexa Garrity (Boothwyn, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) recorded a career-best 56 assists.
Erin Walsh (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) also had a career day and recorded a career-high 32 digs.
In the loss to Clarion, Xuan had a team-high 12 kills and team-best 11 digs.
Garrity had 32 assists.
Lock Haven takes on California (Pa.) and IUP tomorrow (Saturday, October 8) at Millersville.
