CLARION, Pa. – The Lock Haven University football team (0-5, 0-3 PSAC West) fell 54-6 on the road today at Clarion University (1-5, 1-2 PSAC West) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action clash.
Lock Haven took the early 3-0 lead after
Noah Heimer (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) split the uprights from 38-yards out. Heimer's field goal capped off a six-play drive and had LHU up 3-0 with 8:22 to go in the first quarter.
Heimer made his second field goal of the game with 5:28 to go in the half to make it 14-6. His 33-yard kick capped off an 11-play, 53-yard drive.
Heimer, who has been ranked among the conference and nation's best kickers all year, is now 7-for-10 on the season.
Clarion led 23-6 at halftime and scored three touchdowns in the third quarter to run away from the Bald Eagles.
Clarion took full advantage of its homecoming festivities and racked up 474 yards of offense, which included 423 on the ground.
Brandon Brader (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) did everything he could to spark Lock Haven's ground attack. Brader, who's been ranked in the PSAC top-10 all year in rushing yards per game, carried the ball 24 times today for 81 yards.
Brader season average is now 89.2 yards per game.
Quarterback
Jarryd Burkett (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) was 9-for-20 for 56 yards and
Devin Sims (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) made four catches for 22 yards.
Ryan Good (Tower City, Pa./Williams Valley) made a team-high 11 tackles to lead LHU defensively.
Clarion quarterback Ben Ficus accounted for four Golden Eagle touchdowns. He passed for a pair and rushed for 204 yards and two scores.
Lock Haven is back on the road next Saturday, October 15 when the Bald Eagles travel to Gannon University (noon kickoff).
