Gribler hits 1,000 career kill mark; second Lady Eagle to reach achievement this year

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (10-8, 7-4 PSAC) split a pair of matches today at Millersville University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover action.

Lock Haven fell to rival California (Pa.) University 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 21-25 & 22-25) in a hard-fought thriller.

LHU blanked IUP in the Lady Eagles second match of the day 3-0 (25-22, 25-19 & 32-30). The 32-30 score in the third set is no typo, as the two teams battled until the end in thrilling fashion.

Senior Haley Gribler (Powell, Ohio/Olentagny-Liberty) became the second Lady Eagle this year to hit the prestigious 1,000-kill mark.

Gao Xuan (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) led the way in the loss to Cal. She had 20 kills and 12 digs.

Grace Novacek (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) added 14 kills and hit .367.

Gribler was solid as well with eight kills and 12 digs.

Alexa Garrity (Boothwyn, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) had 39 assists and two aces.

Erin Walsh (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) recorded 16 digs.

Bailey Farthing (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) led The Haven defensively and recorded 6.5 blocks.

Xuan was at it again in the straight set win over IUP. She hit .486 with 20 kills.

Novacek had 13 kills and Gribler knocked down a dozen.

Garrity was the playmaker and dished out 45 assists.

Walsh had a team-high 14 digs.

Lock Haven returns to action on Friday, October 14 at Shippensburg.
