LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (2-1) defeated Chestnut Hill College (0-4) in their 2011-12 home opener this evening 71-62 in a non-conference matchup.
 
Heather McHugh (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) led the Lady Eagles with 17 points She was 3-for-4 shooting from 3-point land and 4-for-4 shooting from the free throw line.
 
Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) netted a career-high 16 points off the bench, including 10 in the first half.  She also recorded five rebounds.
 
The Lady Eagles put four players in double figures as Peaches Nesmith (Philadelphia/Northeast) and Mahogany Spence (Scranton, Pa./G.A.R.) scored 11 points apiece.
 
Nesmith flirted with a double-double as she recorded a team-high nine rebounds.
 
Kacie Hershey (Cochranville, Pa./Octorara) also had a big day on the glass for LHU as she recorded eight boards.  She also scored five points.
 
Sharay Hall (Philadelphia/Carver) had a strong all-around performance scoring eight points while also tallying five rebounds and five assists.
 
The Lady Eagles won the game at the free throw line, shooting an outstanding 76.9% (20-for-26), their best effort of the season.
 
The Lady Eagles are back in action Saturday (December 3) when they travel to Cheyney University for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover matchup.  Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
