LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (17-8, 14-4 PSAC) extended its win streak to eight matches with a 3-0 (25-8, 25-22 & 25-14) over visiting Millersville University (17-18, 6-12 PSAC) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
The Lady Eagles set the tone early as they raced out to a 9-0 lead in the first set of the night.
Lock Haven had to fight back in the second set as Millersville held the lead late. With the match tied at 21-21,
Erin Walsh's (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) ace led the late Haven charge. LHU went on to win the second set 25-22.
Lock Haven was clicking again in the third set and cruised 25-14.
Gao Xuan (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) hit a red-hot .458 and finished with a match-high 14 kills.
Grace Novacek (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) and
Haley Gribler (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy-Liberty) were not far off the pace and finished with 10 and eight kills, respectively.
Bailey Farthing (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) added six kills.
Gribler also had four aces and 12 digs.
Walsh chipped in defensively with eight digs as well. She finished with three aces.
Alexa Garrity (Boothwyn, Pa./Garden Spot) paced the offense with 36 assists.
Lock Haven already had the PSAC East Regular season crown wrapped up and will enter next week's PSAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed from the East. LHU will host a quarterfinal match on Tuesday (Nov. 8) night with the opponent to be determined by tomorrow's other conference matches.
Lock Haven hits the court tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 5) in the Lady Eagles final regular season match of the year. LHU hosts Shippensburg at 1 p.m.
