LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Junior
Peaches Nesmith (Philadelphia/Northeast) netted a career-high 27 points, but it wasn't enough as the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (11-14, 4-10 PSAC West) closed out the 2010-11 season with an 81-66 loss to visiting California (Pa.) University (20-6, 11-3 PSAC West).
Nesmith hit a trio of three's and was 4-for-5 from the free-throw line. She also added a team-high eight rebounds.
Prior to the start of the game, LHU took a moment to honor its two seniors in
Kristen Kudrick (Harrison City, Pa./Penn Trafford) and
Elizabeth Finneran (Oakville, Conn.Watertown).
Earlier this season Kudrick became just the 12 woman in school history to reach the 1,000 point plateau. She led the team in scoring this year with 11 points per game.
Freshman
Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa./Ligonier) and junior
Heather McHugh (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) both scored nine points and added six rebounds in the loss.
Cal was led by Kayla Smith's game-high 31 points.
