SALISBURY, N.C. – The Lock Haven University softball team capped off a perfect 5-0 weekend with a 4-1 upset of No. 17 Lenoir-Rhyne University today on the final of day of play at the Catawba Tournament in Salisbury, N.C.
The Lady Eagles offense continued to produce and The Haven got another spectacular effort in the pitcher's circle.
Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover) picked up the win in the complete-game effort. She gave up just five hits and no walks, while allowing just the one run.
The offense, which helped the Lady Eagles outscore opponents 29-3 over the five-game stretch was led today by
Amanda Fernandez (Cheltenham, Pa./Nazareth Academy) and
Kelsey Mullins (Binghamton, Pa./Susquehanna Valley), who both went 2-for-3 at the plate.
Fernandez hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to lead LHU.
Mullins had a double and scored one run for LHU.
The Lady Eagles are off until Sunday, March 6 when they play the first of 10 games in the Sunshine State.
