Bald Eagles split a doubleheader with Lake Erie

CLEARWATER, Fla. -The Lock Haven University baseball team split a doubleheader today against Lake Erie.

Lock Haven won the first game 6-3 and lost the second game 12-7.

The Bald Eagles record is now 9-4 on the year as they continue to play well.

In the first game the Bald Eagles scored six runs on 13 hits.

In the sixth inning Lock Haven broke open the game, collecting three runs to give the Bald Eagles the lead and to secure the win.

Breaking out in the first game for Lock Haven at the plate was Brian Kochik (Snow Shoe, Pa./Bald Eagle). He went 3-for-3 with a home run.

Kochik has three home runs on the season.

Kevin Cressman (Huntingdon, Pa./Mansfield University) also hit a home run for Lock Haven.

Corey Fassett (Tunkhannock, Pa./Lackawanna College) went 3-for-4 with a RBI and one run scored.

Cory Dorman (Mifflinburg, Pa/Alleghany College of Maryland) went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Having great command on the mound in the first game was senior Andrew Simonik (Scott Township, Pa/Southern Huntingdon)

He pitched a solid seven innings only walking one batter.

Simonik finished the game with an impressive seven strikeouts.

In the second game, Lock Haven had seven runs on 11 hits. Lake Erie had 12 runs on a 17 hits.

Jordan Yohn (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) got the start for Lock Haven going five innings, while giving up four hits and two walks.

Matt McCamley (Phillipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) had a solid second game at the plate going 2-for-3. McCamley scored three runs scored and a RBI.

Cody Young (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) found his swing in the second game, going 2-for-3, with one run scored.

Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) went 1-for-3 with a home run.

Tomorrow the Bald Eagles look to end their Florida trip on a positive note. Lock Haven plays a double header against Cedarville University. The first game starts a 10 a.m. and the second one starts at 1 p.m.
