Bald Eagles split doubleheader in home-opener; Yohn’s nine K’s lead LHU in nightcap

LOCK HAVEN, Pa- Lock Haven baseball team (10-7, 1-1 PSAC West) split today's doubleheader with Indiana (Pa.) University (9-9, 1-1 PSAC West).

The doubleheader marked the home-opener for LHU and was the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opener for both teams as well.

The Bald Eagles dropped the first game 8-2 and won the second game 8-1.

Leading the way at the plate for the Bald eagles in the first game was Brian Kochik (Snow Shoe, Pa/Bald Eagle). He went 2-for-2 and scored one run.

Freshman Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Ryan Watkins (Beech Creek, Pa/ Central Mountain) had a pinch-hit double in the bottom of the seventh to give Lock Haven it's only run as the rally was short lived.

Andrew Simonik (Scott Township, Pa./Lakeland) got the start for the Bald Eagles and went 4.2 innings, giving up six runs.

Alec Jacob (Newtown, Pa./Pennsbury) came in relief and threw 2.1 innings, striking out two batters while giving up one run.

In the second game Lock Haven scored its eight runs on seven hits.

Jordan Yohn (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) threw a gem in game two for Lock Haven, giving up just two runs on four hits.

His command was outstanding as he struck out nine on the way to his second win of the season.

Stephen Brush (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) came in the last inning to close the door.

Picking up where he left off from the first game was Kockik, who went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Kockik collected three RBIs in the game.

Corey Fassett (Tunkhannock, Pa./Lackawanna College) had a solid second game, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored.

The Bald Eagle hit the diamond again tomorrow as the travel to IUP for a doubleheader (1 p.m.).
