Bald Eagles pick up a pair of wins on first day of Florida trip; improve to 6-1

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Lock Haven University baseball team picked up a pair of wins to open play on its annual trip to Florida.

Lock Haven beat Urbana 5-0 and Alderson-Broaddus 16-3 on the Bald Eagles first day of competition at the Winning Inning DII Invitational in Clearwater, Fla.

With the two wins today, LHU improves to 6-1 on the year.

In game one vs. Urbana, Lock Haven's five runs came off seven hits.

Andrew Simonik (Scott Township, Pa./Lakeland) picked up the win after a six solid innings of work on the mound. He struck out seven on the way to the win.

Cory Dorman (Mifflinburg, Pa./Alleghany College of Maryland) had the big bat for The Haven and went 2-for-4 with a double, triple, RBI and run scored.

Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) went 2-for-4 with a double.

Josh Jones (Neelyton, Pa./Southern-Huntingdon) was also 2-for-4 at the plate.

Game two only went seven innings as the 10-run rule is being used for the tournament.

LHU's 16 runs came off 15 hits against Alderson-Broaddus.

Zuback was 2-for-3 and Dorman went 2-for-4.

Kevin Cressman (Huntingdon, Pa./Mansfield University) was 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles.

Lock Haven got another solid pitching effort.

Jordan Yohn (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntingdon) went six innings and struck out three on the way to the win.

The Bald Eagles are right back at it tomorrow (Monday, March 7) when they play two in the Sunshine State. LHU takes on Alderson-Broaddus and Upper Iowa.
