ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 17 Lock Haven University softball team improved to a perfect 7-0 with a pair of wins to open play in the Lady Eagles annual trip to the Sunshine State.
The Lady Eagles beat Southern New Hampshire 13-2 in five innings (10-run rule) and beat Assumption 13-12 in an eight-inning thriller to open play at the NTC Spring Games in Orlando.
Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover) continued her early season dominance in the pitcher's circle and picked up the win over Southern New Hampshire.
Alicia Cacciotti (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) was 2-for-4. She hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to lead the Lady Eagles offensive explosion.
Kelsey Mullins (Binghamton, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) hit a home run in the fourth was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Cacciotti was at it again in the second game and hit the game-winning hit in the bottom of the eighth inning vs. assumption. Her single drove in two runs to lead LHU to the win.
Mullins was 2-for-3 with three RBIs as she stayed hot at the plate.
Erin Clary (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) got into the act and went 3-for-6 with three runs scored.
The Lady Eagles return to action tomorrow (Monday, March 7) in Florida. LHU takes on Alderson-Broaddus and Wayne State.
