CLEARWATER, Fla. -The Lock Haven University baseball team picked up a big win today, downing Alderson Broaddus 14-5.
On the third day of play at the Winning Inning DII Invitational in Clearwater, Fla. the Bald Eagles picked up the win, scoring 14 runs on 17 hits. With the win the Bald Eagles improve their record to 7-3.
Leading the way for Lock Haven at the plate was
Kevin Cressman (Huntingdon, Pa./Mansfield University). He was 3-for-5 with a walk and one RBI.
Matt McCamley (Phillipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) provided a great deal of run support collecting three RBIs on the day. McCamley was 2-for-5 with a double.
Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain), a local-freshman has really made an impact for the Bald Eagles in the first 10 games of the season. Today he went 2-for-4 with a double, one run scored, and a RBI.
Alec Jacob (Newport, Pa./Pennsbury) picked up the win for Lock Haven, hurling a solid five innings. Jacob gave up two free passes, and struck out one.
Also, picking up some innings for the Bald Eagles was
Corey Hepfer (Springfield, Pa./Penn State Brandywine) who threw three innings.
Stephen Brush (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough)also threw one inning. Both relievers struck out one.
After getting off to a slow start, the top of the fourth inning seemed to be the difference for Lock Haven as they scored seven runs, paving the way for the rest of the game.
Alderson Broaddus collected five runs on eight hits on the day.
Tomorrow the Bald Eagles have the day off, but they get back to action Thursday March 10, at 10 a.m. when Lock Haven takes on Alderson Broaddus again.
