Bald Eagles take two from Clarion; LHU pitching shuts down Clarion on Senior Day

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University baseball team (19-20, 9-13 PSAC West) took two games from Clarion University (9-28, 7-15 PSAC West) today on Senior Day at Foundation Field.

LHU won the first game 2-0, and took game two 3-2.

In between both games today, the Bald Eagles honored the careers of their eight seniors standouts.

In game one, senior Andrew Simonik (Scott Township, Pa/Lakeland) pitched a gem.

Simonik threw a complete-game shutout and collected eight strikeouts.

Simonik allowed five hits, while not walking any batters

Ryan Watkins (Beach Creek, Pa./Central Mountain) had a good day at the plate as he drove in the only two runs in game one. Watkins went 1-for-2.

In game two, The Haven scored three runs on six hits.

Senior, Tyler Rumsey (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield) pitched another great game for the Bald Eagles. Rumsey allowed two runs on five hits.

Pitching a complete game, Rumsey fanned five batters.

Robert Guild (Ogdensburg, N.J./ Sussex County Community College) had a two-run homerun in the bottom of the second that provided enough run-support for LHU.

Guild went 1-for-2.

Watkins continued to hit the ball well in game two as he went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Lock Haven is back in action tomorrow (Sunday, May 1) as the Bald Eagles travel to Clarion University to play the last two games of the 2011 regular season. The first game starts at 1 p.m.
