BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (20-9, 6-4 PSAC Central) split a PSAC Central doubleheader today at No. 7 Bloomsburg University (25-5, 8-2 PSAC Central).

The Lady Eagles took game one, 3-2 in dramatic fashion before dropping game two 7-3.

Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton) hit a RBI-single in the top of the eighth that gave LHU the go-ahead run and proved to be the eventual game-winner in game one today.

LHU trailed 2-0 heading into the sixth inning, but the Lady Eagles turned into the comeback kids and tacked on a run in the top of the sixth and seventh innings.

Down 2-1, Erica Pooler (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) hit a pinch-hit home run to help The Haven force the extra frame.

Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover) earned the win in the pitcher's circle. She went all eight innings and shutdown the Huskies in the bottom of the eighth when it counted the most.

Morse struck out three and allowed five walks. She allowed two runs on 11 hits.

Smith and Bridgette Clarke (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) both went 2-for-4 with a RBI.

Lock Haven lost game two 7-3.

Three different players had a multiple hit game for the Lady Eagles.

LHU trailed 7-1 heading into the seventh and The Haven did everything it could to spark the rally for the second straight game.

The Lady Eagles two runs in the seventh wouldn't be enough however.

Smith went 5.1 innings in the circle. She recorded three strikeouts in the loss.

Lock Haven travels to Clarion University on Monday, April 11 for a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader.
