BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (26-14) split a pair of games today on the second day of play at the 2011 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Tournament at Bloomsburg.

Lock Haven took down Shippensburg 5-4 in a thriller, but dropped their second game of the day to West Virginia Wesleyan 6-1.

Brittany Pataky's (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) RBI-double in the top of the seventh proved to the be the difference in the thrilling win over Shippensburg. Pataky drove in Nicole Smith.

Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton) pitched the final three innings and picked up the win.

Pataky finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Lock Haven found itself in a rematch of yesterday's tournament-opening game with West Virginia Wesleyan. Yesterday, the Bobcats downed LHU 7-1, but they were edged by Bloomsburg 1-0 today in extra innings.

The Bobcats took an early lead as they tacked on five runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Lock Haven's one run came off four hits.

Lock Haven finishes the year 26-14.
