HAMILTON, N.Y. – Kristi Shepps (Willow Street, Pa./Penn Manor) scored in the 96th minute to record a hat trick and lead the Lock Haven University field hockey team (3-4) past Colgate (2-5) 3-2 in a double-overtime thriller today.

Shepps was the story for The Haven and she put the Lady Eagles up 1-0 in the 12th minute of play.

She struck again in 31st minute to make it 2-1 at halftime.

Colgate tied the match at 2-2 in the 68th minute of play and at the end of regulation it was still knotted at two goals apiece.

The speedy Shepps broke loose in the 96th minute to knock home the game-winner.

Lindsay Staufenberg (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) made three saves for Lock Haven.

Lock Haven returns home on Sunday, September 18 to host local-rival Bucknell at 1 p.m. on Charlotte E. Smith Field.
