Two-goal second half sparks Lady Eagles past Georgetown 3-1

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
The Lock Haven University field hockey team (5-5) defeated visiting Georgetown University (2-6) 3-1 today pm Charlotte E. Smith Field thanks to a speedy attack that converted two goals in the second half.
 
Senior Kristi Shepps (Willow Street, Pa./Penn Manor) lead the Lady Eagles with two goals on the day.
 
Shepps connected for her first goal off of a penalty corner pass from sophomore Kelly Harsh (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) in the 35th minute.
 
The game was tied 1-1 at halftime.
 
Harsh once again set up the Lady Eagle offense to begin the second half as she assisted junior Nicole Weaknecht (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) for the go-ahead goal.
 
Weaknecht's goal proved to be the game winner as the Lady Eagle's speed overwhelmed Georgetown all day.
 
Shepp's added her second goal of the game in the 62nd minute off of a pass from Senior Leslie Ahern (Getzville, N.Y./Williamsville North).
 
The Lady Eagles are back in action tomorrow, when they face Rider University at 1 p.m. at Charlotte E. Smith Field.
