LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (7-7, 6-5 PSAC) defeated Clarion (4-11, 3-8 PSAC) 85-70 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
LHU scored a season-high 85 points as the offense seemed to be clicking all night long.
Five Lady Eagles scored in double figures for the first time since February 24, 2010, which also came against Clarion.
Sharay Hall (Philadelphia/Carver), and
Heather McHugh (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) scored 19 points each to pace The Haven offensively.
Hall hit three three-pointers on the night which moved her into eighth all-time in school history with 76. She also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out a game-high five assists.
McHugh hit a game-high five three-pointers.
Peaches Nesmith (Philadelphia/Northeast) had a strong game scoring 16 points, grabbing eight rebounds and tallying a game-high four steals.
Mahogany Spence (Scranton, Pa./G.A.R.) also added 10 points.
The LHU bench had a huge game, led by Samantha Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock) who scored 10 points. The LHU bench outscored Clarion's bench 18-2 in the first half.
The Lady Eagles played strong defense all game, forcing 28 Clarion turnovers from which LHU was able to score 35 points.
The Lady Eagles are back in action Saturday (January 21) when they host California (Pa.) at 1 p.m. in Thomas Fieldhouse.
