LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (7-8, 6-6 PSAC) fell to California (Pa.) (11-5, 8-4 PSAC) 80-57 today in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West matchup.
It was a tale of two halves for the Lady Eagles offensively. The team shot just 21.9% from the field in the first half, and trailed Cal 39-16 at the break.
LHU bounced back to play a strong second half where they shot 51.5% from the field.
Sharay Hall (Philadelphia/Carver) led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 15 points. She hit a team-high three three-pointers and added six rebounds.
Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) gave The Haven strong minutes off of the bench, as she scored six points and grabbed four rebounds.
Peaches Nesmith (Philadelphia/Northeast) and
Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) scored eight points each.
Nesmith grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, while Ryan added six boards of her own.
Samantha Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock) filled up the stat sheet for The Haven. She tallied six points, four rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks.
Cal had four players in double figures in scoring for the game, led by Amy Johns who scored a game high 19 points.
The Lady Eagles are back in action Wednesday (January 25) at 5:30 p.m. at No. 18 Indiana (Pa.) University.
