Lady Eagles battle #20 Gannon deep into game; fall 73-64

Seniors Hall and Nesmith lead the way for LHU, but Lady Eagles come up short

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (7-10, 6-8 PSAC) fell to No. 20 Gannon (15-3, 12-2 PSAC) 73-64 today in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West matchup.

The Lady Eagles trailed 33-29 at the halftime break, but used seven second half three pointers to keep battling the Knights deep into the second half.

LHU was balanced on the boards, as they had eight different players grab four or more rebounds.

Peaches Nesmith (Philadelphia/Northeast) led LHU with a team-high 15 points and a game-high six rebounds.

Sharay Hall (Philadelphia/Carver) scored 13 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists.  She hit a game-high three three-pointers.

Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) once again gave The Haven strong minutes off of the bench, as she scored a career-high nine points and grabbed four rebounds.

Heather McHugh (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) and Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) each scored seven points and grabbed four rebounds.

Ryan also tied a career-high with two blocked shots.

Gannon had four players in double-figures in scoring, led by Jennifer Papich who had a game-high 16 points.

The Lady Eagles are back in action Wednesday, February 1 at 5:30 p.m. at Mercyhurst University.
