Haven’s comeback bid comes up short as Temple slips past LHU 4-3 in OT

Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Lock Haven University field hockey team scored two goals in the second half to force overtime, but the Lady Eagles fell to host Temple, 4-3 in overtime today in Atlantic 10 action.

Temple (10-6, 3-0 A-10) led 3-1 at halftime, but Lock Haven (10-6, 1-2 A-10) got second half goals from Nakira Downes (Bridgetown, Barbados/The Combermere School) and Stephanie Ebersole (Elizabethtown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) to force overtime.

Temple scored its third goal of the match in the 26th minute as the Owls jumped out to a commanding 3-0 lead.

Lock Haven didn't fold and Taylor Kennedy (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Township) put The Haven on the board in the 33rd minute.

Trailing 3-1 at halftime, Downes scored in the 41st minute and less than four minutes later, Ebersole knotted the match at 3-3.

Just 1:39 into overtime, Amber Youtz scored her second goal of the match to give Temple the win.

Elaina White (Etters, Pa./Red Land) made 11 saves in for Lock Haven.

Lock Haven is back in action on Friday, October 19 at 3 p.m. when the Lady Eagles host A-10 newcomer Virginia Commonwealth.
