Box Score MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (6-5-4, 3-5-4 PSAC) dropped a thrilling 3-2 overtime match today at Mansfield University (3-10-1, 1-9-1 PSAC) in PSAC action.
LHU outshot MU 20-9 on the day, but could not pull out the road victory.
Mansfield got off to a quick start on its home turf and jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute of play off of the foot of Erika Moyer.
LHU responded quickly however, and in the 18th minute knotted the game at 1-1 when
Jamie Hunter (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) scored her fifth goal of the season, beating Mansfield goalkeeper Alexis Wilhelm from eight yards out.
The match remained even at 1-1 at the half, but The Haven changed that early in the second, as
Samantha Biondi (Hamilton, N.J./Mercer County Community College) collected a rebound and scored her first goal as a Lady Eagle from three yards out to put LHU up 2-1.
Both teams fought hard in the later stages of the match and Mansfield's Kelsey Chapman evened the game at 2-2 in the 83rd minute, a goal that proved to be enough to force overtime.
Just as they did to start the game, the Mounties struck quick, scoring the game-winning goal just 29 seconds into the overtime period. Chapman was again the goal scorer.
Haven keeper
Dana Wozniak (Blackstone, Mass./Mount St. Charles Academy) made two saves in the match and LHU got a strong team defensive effort, as they allowed just five shots on goal.
Lock Haven returns to action on Wednesday, October 24 at 2:30 p.m. when they travel to Mercyhurst for a PSAC match.
