Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (18-9, 11-3 PSAC) downed West Chester University (15-15, 5-10 PSAC) 3-1 tonight, during its “Dig Pink” game at Thomas Fieldhouse.
Tonight's game was the last of two “Dig Pink” matches this season. The Lady Eagles wore special pink uniforms and sold pink shirts at the match to support the Side-Out Foundation and breast cancer awareness. The Haven also celebrated “Dig Pink” on October 16th, when they defeated East Stroudsburg, 3-0. All donations from “Dig Pink” are given directly to the Side-Out Foundation.
LHU entered tonight's game on a five match winning streak and the Lady Eagles continued their torrid streak with the 3-1 win (25-20, 25-12, 22-25 & 25-15).
Bailey Farthing (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) led LHU with 15 kills and nine total blocks. She posted a .345 hitting percentage on the night.
Gao Xuan (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School), last week's PSAC East Player of the Week, tallied 12 kills and 11 digs for The Haven.
Kaleigh Hudak (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom High) and
Alex Brehony (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights) posted eight and seven kills, respectively.
Haven setter
Alexa Garrity (Boothwyn, Pa/Cardinal O'Hara) played a strong all-around match, as she tallied 36 assists, eight digs and three kills in the match.
Erin Walsh (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) and
Bethany Burns (Erie, Pa./McDowell) paced LHU defensively. Walsh tallied a team-high 15 digs, while Burns chipped in with 11.
Lock Haven pushed its winning streak to six matches tonight and will look to keep that streak going at home tomorrow (Saturday, October 27) when they host Cheyney at 11 a.m. and Seton Hill at 3 p.m. in Thomas Fieldhouse.
