Haven Volleyball downs Cheyney and Seton Hill at home

Lady Eagles sweep Cheyney 3-0; down Seton Hill 3-1

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (20-9, 12-3 PSAC) won two matches today at home, as the Lady Eagles swept Cheyney 3-0 and downed Seton Hill 3-1.

Lock Haven pushed its win streak to seven matches in its first match of the day, sweeping Cheyney, 3-0 (25-9, 25-15 & 25-2).

Megan Flick (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) led The Haven offense with 12 kills in the match.

Cody Anderson (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) recorded eight kills, nine digs and had a match-high five aces for LHU.

Stephanie Doherty (East Earl, Pa./Garden Spot) tallied eight kills and added three digs and two aces.

Laura Harris (Galloway, N.J./Absegami) chipped in with seven kills and seven digs in the match.

Jessica Brown (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) dished out 30 assists in the match and also had six digs and three aces.

In their second match of the day, the Lady Eagles defeated Seton Hill, 3-1 (25-17, 19-25, 25-18 & 26-24).

After the two teams split the first two sets, LHU came roaring back to take the third in convincing fashion.  The Haven trailed multiple times in the fourth set, but refused to give up and battled back to close out the match with a 26-24 fourth set win.

Gao Xuan (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) led LHU offensively with 15 kills.  Xuan also was a vital part of The Haven defense, as she tallied 14 digs.

Bailey Farthing (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman), Kaleigh Hudak (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom High) and Grace Novacek (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) solidified The Haven attack with 12, 11 and 10 kills, respectively.

Novacek also led LHU with seven blocks in the match.

Haven setter Alexa Garrity (Boothwyn, Pa/Cardinal O'Hara) had The Haven offense rolling and she dished out 50 assists in the match.  Garrity also had 11 digs and three blocks.

Brown and Erin Walsh (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) led LHU with 17 digs each.

With the win, LHU has now pushed its winning streak to eight matches, as the Lady Eagles have not lost since October 12 against Millersville.

Lock Haven returns to action Friday, November 2, when they host Shippensburg University at Thomas Fieldhouse at 7 p.m.
