Box Score 1 SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team won both of its matches today in PSAC crossover action at Slippery Rock University.
Lock Haven (12-8, 7-2 PSAC) downed host Slippery Rock and IUP to improve to 7-2 in conference play and the Lady Eagles have now won six of their last seven matches.
LHU downed host Slippery this morning, 3-1 (25-19, 20-25, 25-16, & 25-19).
Grace Novacek (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) had an outstanding offensive match for The Haven. The senior middle hitter recorded 14 kills on 20 attack attempts without recording an error.
Gao Xuan (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) led LHU with 15 kills and recorded a team-high three aces.
Freshman
Jessica Brown (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) tallied 18 digs to pace The Haven defense. She added two aces.
Bailey Farthing (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) had 10 kills, four blocks and two aces in the match.
Alexa Garrity (Boothwyn, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) set up the LHU attack all match and recorded 40 assists.
Erin Walsh (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem) tallied 15 digs in the match.
In their second match of the day, the Lady Eagles swept IUP in straight sets, 3-0 (26-24, 25-11 & 25-16).
Novacek and Farthing led the way offensively with 12 and 10 kills, respectively.
Garrity again had the offense rolling, as she posted 34 assists.
Walsh led LHU with 17 digs.
Xuan tallied nine kills, nine digs and three blocks for The Haven.
Farthing also had three blocks in the match.
With today's wins, LHU went 3-1 in conference play this weekend.
The Lady Eagles are right back in action Friday, October 8 when they travel to Millersville University for a PSAC East match. The first set is slated for 7 p.m.
