Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) scored a career-high 18 points, but the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (0-1) fell 60-50 tonight to Chestnut Hill (1-1) in its season opener.

Ryan was solid for LHU right from the opening tip and her career-high 18 points broke her previous mark of 16, which came against Chestnut Hill last season (11/28/11).

Ryan shot 8-for-14 from the field (57%) and grabbed eight rebounds on the night.

The game featured defensive battle early on and LHU trailed by just one at halftime, 20-19.  The Haven out-rebounded CHC 25-16 in the first period and held the Griffins to just 29% (7-for-24) shooting from the field.

Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa./Ligonier Valley) had a strong first half, as she posted six points and six rebounds in the opening period.

Daugherty finished with 11 points and eight rebounds on the night.

LHU trailed 52-43 with 3:05 left to play in the game, when Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.) sparked the Lady Eagles with a quick three-pointer and an old fashioned three-point-play to cut the Chestnut Hill lead to 52-49.

Moyer finished with 13 points and nine rebounds in her Lock Haven debut.

Sami Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock) chipped in with nine rebounds off the bench.

Lindsay Alexander and Olivia Gorczynski led Chestnut Hill with 18 points each.

The Lady Eagles return to action Saturday (November 17) when they play 2012 home opener against Mansfield University.  Tipoff at Thomas Fieldhouse is scheduled for 1 p.m.
