Bald Eagles use balanced attack to down Penn State Wilkes-Barre in home-opener

Festus records double-double; four Bald Eagles score in double-figures

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa.  – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (2-1) downed Penn State Wilkes-Barre (0-4) 95-53 tonight in its 2012 home-opener at Thomas Fieldhouse.

With the win, LHU has started the season 2-1 for the first time since the 1998-99 season.

Lock Haven had four players score in double-figures on the night, led by forward Kasheef Festus (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carroll), who recorded his first double-double of the season.

Festus, who was named PSAC West Player of the Week on Monday, scored 16 points and grabbed a game-high 10 boards to pace Lock Haven.  Seven of his 10 rebounds came on the offensive end and Festus shot 8-for-9 from the free throw line.

Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia/Neumann-Goretti) also netted 16 points for The Haven.  He added a game-high six assists and three rebounds.

LHU led 49-25 at halftime, led by senior forward Armandi Marshall (Philadelphia/Olney East), who had a huge first half for The Haven.

Marshall scored all 14 of his points in the first period and grabbed eight of his nine total rebounds in the half.

Freshman Elijah Cooper (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) had a strong game off the bench tonight.  Cooper shot 3-for-5 from three-point territory and finished the game with 12 points.

Terrell Johnson (Philadelphia/Imhotep Charter) had a solid all-around game, tallying six points, four rebounds, four assists and a game-high four steals.

Hunter Dick (Penn Furnace, Pa./State College) was big down low for The Haven in the second half and he finished with eight points and seven rebounds on the night.

LHU used the free throw line to its advantage tonight.  The Haven went 30-for-38 (78.9%) from the line.

The 42-point win is the largest margin of victory in school history and was the first non-conference home win for The Haven in three years.

The Bald Eagles return to action Saturday, December 1 when they host Millersville University at Thomas Fieldhouse for their 2012 PSAC opener.  Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
