Volleyball drops Millersville 3-1; Clinches top seed in PSAC East

Lady Eagles push winning streak to 10 matches

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team clinched the top seed in the PSAC East today as they defeated Millersville University (13-16, 6-11 PSAC) 3-1 at Thomas Fieldhouse.

With the win, Lock Haven (22-9, 14-3 PSAC) pushed its winning streak to 10 straight matches and avenged its last lost, which came at Millersville on October 12.

The Lady Eagles and Marauders battled back and forth throughout the match, as the two teams split the first two sets.  Lock Haven won the first 25-22, but Millersville came back to win the second 25-22.  The Haven rallied however, and defeated the Marauders in set three, 25-19 before taking a close fourth set, 25-23 to secure the win.

LHU used a balanced attack offensively, as four Lady Eagles recorded double-digit kills.

Senior Gao Xuan (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) led the way for The Haven with 18 kills in the match.

Bailey Farthing (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) and Grace Novacek (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) were both sensational on the attack for LHU.  Farthing tallied 14 kills and led LHU with a .458 hitting percentage, while Novacek had 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .417.

Kaleigh Hudak (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom High) added 10 kills for The Haven.

Haven setter Alexa Garrity (Boothwyn, Pa/Cardinal O'Hara) distributed 49 assists in the match.  Garrity also chipped in with five kills and five blocks.

Erin Walsh (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) was outstanding defensively for the Lady Eagles and she recorded a match-high 25 digs.

The Lady Eagles round out the regular season next week with two matches.  The Haven travels to East Stroudsburg Tuesday (November 6) and finishes up the season at home against Kutztown on Saturday (November 10).
