Volleyball downs ESU for 11th straight win

Lady Eagles wrap-up regular season Saturday at home against Kutztown

Box Score EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (23-9, 15-3 PSAC) downed East Stroudsburg University (7-19, 4-14 PSAC) 3-1 on the road tonight in a PSAC East matchup.

LHU, which clinched the top seed in the PSAC East on Saturday, won the first two sets of tonight's match 25-16 and 25-19.  After falling in the third set 25-27, The Haven closed out the match with a 25-16 fourth set win, clinching their 11th straight victory.

Gao Xuan (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) led Lock Haven with a match-high 15 kills and four aces on the night.  Xuan was also solid defensively, as she tallied nine digs.

Grace Novacek (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) and Bailey Farthing (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) were both solid offensively and they recorded nine and eight kills, respectively.

Farthing also had a team-high four blocks, including two solo.

Setter Alexa Garrity (Boothwyn, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) had the offense rolling all night ant she tallied 38 assists.  She also chipped in with eight digs in the match.

LHU was led defensively by seniors Erin Walsh (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem) and Monica Brown (Omaha, Neb./Iowa Western Community College).  Walsh posted a match-high 18 digs and Brown added 13 digs of her own.

The Lady Eagles close out their regular season on Saturday (November 10) when they host Kutztown in a PSAC East matchup.  The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Thomas Fieldhouse.
