Box Score EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (4-3, 2-2 PSAC) downed defending PSAC Champion and preseason favorite East Stroudsburg on the road tonight, 68-58.
East Stroudsburg (6-2, 3-1 PSAC) entered tonight's game in first place in the PSAC East and the Warriors were ranked third in the PSAC in scoring (77.7 points per game).
The Bald Eagles got off to a quick start, jumping out to a 25-5 lead early in the first half. East Stroudsburg ended the half on a 13-3 run, but LHU led 35-26 at the break.
Kasheef Festus (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carroll) led The Haven in the first half with nine points and four rebounds. He shot a perfect 4-for-4 from the field in the period.
As a team, Lock Haven shot 61% (14-for-23) from the field in the half, including 5-of-7 from three-point land.
The Haven kept up the strong effort in the second half and opened the period on an 11-3 run to push the lead to 46-29 with 13:32 to play.
LHU never allowed East Stroudsburg to get back within striking distance and the Bald Eagles did not trail at any point during the game.
Festus finished with a game-high 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field.
Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia/Neumann Goretti) had a strong all-around game for The Haven.
Hepburn, who entered tonight's game ranked eighth in the nation in scoring (23.8 points per game), netted 14 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out a game-high seven assists.
Terrell Johnson (Philadelphia/Imhotep Charter) scored 10 points for The Haven and added four rebounds and four assists.
Armandi Marshall (Philadelphia/Olney East) had a big night defensively and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds to go along with four blocks.
East Stroudsburg was led by Duane Johnson and Whis Grant, who scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
With the win, Lock Haven snapped an eight-game losing streak to East Stroudsburg and handed the Warriors their first conference loss of the season.
The Bald Eagles are right back in action tomorrow (December 19) when they take on Kutztown on the road in a PSAC crossover matchup. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
