Box Score JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore
Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa./Ligonier Valley) scored a season-high 23 points to lead the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (3-6) past Pitt-Johnstown (3-5), 80-75 today in a non-conference matchup.
Daugherty was on fire all game and scored her 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field. Her 23 points are just three shy of her career-high 26, which Daugherty scored against Edinboro on January 22, 2011.
Daugherty also pulled down seven rebounds in the win.
Junior forward
Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) was a force down low for the Lady Eagles, netting 15 points on the day to go along with five boards.
Lock Haven received excellent help off of its bench this afternoon, led by
Sami Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock) and
Adrianna Berry (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East), who scored 10 and eight points, respectively.
LHU's bench outscored UPJ's, 24-12 on the day.
Kacie Hershey (Cochranville, Pa./Octorara) added eight points and four rebounds for The Haven.
With the game tied 72-72, with just 3:01 to play, Daugherty made a layup and picked up a steal leading to another layup to put LHU up 76-72 with 1:38 to play, putting The Haven ahead for good.
The win snapped a five-game losing skid for the Lady Eagles and was LHU's first win over UPJ in its last nine games, dating back to 1999.
The Lady Eagles return home next weekend (Jan. 4-5) as they host Cheyney and West Chester at Thomas Fieldhouse.
