Box Score ERIE, Pa. – Kasheef Festus (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carroll) recorded his second double-double of the season, but the Lock Haven University men's basketball team (3-3, 1-2 PSAC) fell on the road today to Mercyhurst (5-3, 2-1 PSAC), 68-50 in its 2012 PSAC West opener.
Festus scored a team-high 19 points and tied his season-high with 10 rebounds in the game. He shot 6-for-9 from the field and made seven free throws.
Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia/Neumann Goretti), last week's PSAC West Athlete of the Week, netted 14 points on 4-for-11 shooting from the field. He added five rebounds and four assists.
Lock Haven trailed by just four, 27-23 at halftime, but Mercyhurst went on an 8-0 run in the first 1:30 of the second half to pull ahead 35-23.
The Haven battled back and cut the MU lead to just five, 49-44 with 6:52 to play, but LHU was unable to take over the lead.
Armandi Marshall (Philadelphia/Olney East) scored 10 points and added six rebounds for LHU.
Luis Leao led Mercyhurst with a game-high 22 points.
The Bald Eagles return to action Tuesday, December 18 when they travel to East Stroudsburg for a PSAC crossover matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
