GANNON, Pa. – Freshman
Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) recorded a double-double in the first half, but the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (8-15, 7-13 PSAC) fell to No. 19 Gannon University (20-4, 17-3 PSAC) 77-67 on the road today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
Mealing had a huge first half for LHU, posting a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds in the period. She finished the game with 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Mealing's 13 points set a new career-high and her double-double was the second of her career.
Sharay Hall (Philadelphia/Carver) led the Lady Eagles with 14 points. She tied a career-high with four three-pointers.
Hall also grabbed eight rebounds.
Heather McHugh (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) and
Peaches Nesmith (Philadelphia/Northeast) each scored 11 points for The Haven.
LHU led 36-34 at the break and the game remained close throughout most of the second half. The Lady Eagles led by one, 56-55, with 6:06 to play before Gannon sparked a 10-0 run to pull away.
Caitlyn Lowe led Gannon with a game-high 22 points. She made seven three-pointers on the day.
The Lady Eagles return to action Wednesday, February 22 when they host Indiana (Pa.) University for a 6 p.m. tip.
