SALISBURY, N.C. – The Lock Haven University softball team opened the 2012 season today with a 9-1 win over Tiffin at the Catawba Invitational in Salisbury, N.C.
The Lady Eagles offense was fueled by three home runs including a three-run shot by
Amanda Fernandez (Cheltenham, Pa./Nazareth Academy).
Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton) and
Erin Clary (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) both homered for The Haven.
Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover) picked up the win in the pitcher's circle.
Brittany Favazza (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) went 1-for-3 at the plate with a RBI.
Lock Haven's second game today against Fairmont State didn't make it out of the first inning before being called because of a strong storm. Lock Haven will now play three tomorrow.
Tentatively LHU will take on Fairmont State at 10 a.m.

The Lady Eagles close out play in North Carolina on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. with a game against Davis & Elkins.
