LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (0-25, 0-22 PSAC) closed out the 2011-12 season by falling to Mercyhurst University (17-9, 15-7 PSAC) 73-66 at home today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
Andre Rivers (Philadelphia/Girard College) led LHU with 17 points and had a game-high nine rebounds.
Freshmen
Lucas Mosca (Baltimore/Towson) and
Nate Walters (Reedsville,Pa./Indian Valley) both set new career-highs in points today, as they netted 14 points each.
Mosca's 14 points came on 5-for-8 shooting from the field.
Walters was 4-for-7 from the field and made a career-high six free throws. He also grabbed seven rebounds.
Anthony Baker (Bushkill, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) scored nine points, grabbed four rebounds, dished out a team-high four assists and blocked a career-high three shots for LHU.
The Bald Eagles cut a 14 point deficit into just three points, 66-63, with 1:55 left in the game, but were unable to take the lead.
LHU was stout defensively all day, holding Mercyhurst to just 39 percent shooting from the field and 22 percent shooting on three-pointers.
Mercyhurst was led by Matt Lee, who scored 32 points.
